London From 1973 To 2012...***EXCLUSIVE*** LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - 1973: 47 Gerrard Street in 1973 in London, England. London landmarks are a blast from the past in a series of pictures taken almost forty years apart. Piccadilly Circus, Convent Garden and Oxford Street are barely recognisable in the colour snaps taken in 1973. The picture project was started by civil servant John Hutchinson, who took the photographs during his lunch break. The 68-year-old wanted to record the areas in London which were under threat of redevelopment. John feared the Victorian buildings that had survived the Blitz would be lost forever, so he set out to photograph them for posterity. PHOTOGRAPH BY / Barcroft USA UK Office, London.
